As one of the largest health insurance providers in the USA, they empower individuals with Medicare Advantage plans, innovative wellness programs like go365, and a diverse array of health coverage options—all at no extra cost for members.
Millions of members trust their platform to connect with doctors, specialists, and clinics each day. With this profound responsibility, they strive to create an experience that is seamless and stress-free. But their existing provider’s search platform was starting to show its age, and the people it served deserved better.
02 The Problem
Imagine being a Medicare member in search of a specialist, only to encounter a frustrating provider search platform. Slow-loading pages, unresponsive filters, and incomplete results create significant barriers to accessing the care you need. This poor user experience not only complicates the process of finding providers based on essential criteria like care quality, specialization, and cost but also delays timely medical treatment. redesigning this platform to ensure members can easily and effectively locate the healthcare services they require.

03 The Solution
Diaspark’s engineers didn’t arrive with a predetermined tech stack and a timeline. We started where it matters: listening. Understanding what health insurance members were struggling with, and what the engineering team needed to maintain and scale. From that foundation, we designed and delivered a platform built across four strategic pillars.

Provider Search Engine (Find the right doctor, fast)
The search engine is the foundation of the platform. It was rebuilt to handle real time, complex queries at scale so members spend less time searching and more time getting care.
Reactive data streams: Using RxJS observables, the engine manages concurrent searches with built-in debouncing and cancellation, ensuring only the most relevant and up to date results are shown.
Search as you type: Results update dynamically as members refine their query, reducing friction, and eliminating the need for repeated searches.
Load resilient architecture: Optimized async patterns maintain consistent performance even under peak traffic, ensuring a reliable experience when it matters most.
Location Based Filtering (Care, found close to home)
Location plays a critical role in how members choose care. This capability places geography at the centre of the experience, making it easier to find relevant providers nearby.
Up to 100 mile search radius: Members can adjust their search range based on their needs, with smooth and intuitive distance controls.
Map integrated results: Providers are displayed in relation to the member’s location, offering immediate visual context without disrupting the experience.
Smart defaults: The platform detects or prompts for location early, ensuring members always begin with relevant results.
Sorting and Advanced Filters (The right provider, not just any provider)
A long list of providers does not support decision making. This capability helps members quickly narrow options and identify the provider that best fits their needs.
Multi dimensional filtering: Members can refine results based on specialization, care quality ratings, plan acceptance, language preferences, gender, and accessibility needs.
Efficient state management: Powered by Pinia, complex filter combinations are processed instantly, ensuring a smooth and responsive experience.
Persistent filter context: Selected filters remain intact as members move between results and provider details, allowing seamless exploration without losing progress.
Security and Identity Management (Enterprise grade trust, member friendly experience)
Security is embedded into every layer of the platform to protect sensitive data while maintaining a seamless user experience.
OAuth 2.0 and ForgeRock integration: Secure identity management ensures compliance with enterprise standards while keeping authentication simple and frictionless.
Vulnerability remediation and monitoring: All SAST, DAST, and OSA findings were resolved prior to launch, with continuous monitoring to maintain a strong security posture. Session security: Advanced token lifecycle management and secure session handling protect member data across devices and network conditions.
